Counselling FAQs:
answers to your counselling questions
What is the first step to starting counselling?
The best way to begin is by reaching out through our enquiry form or via email. We can then schedule a brief initial talk to discuss what is bringing you to therapy and to see if we feel like a good match for working together towards your wellbeing.
How long does a standard session last?
Most counselling and coaching sessions are 50 minutes long. This 'therapeutic hour' provides a consistent and focused timeframe for our work, allowing enough time for deep exploration while maintaining healthy progress.
Is the therapy process confidential?
Yes, all sessions are confidential. As professional practitioners, we adhere to strict ethical codes. There are a few legal and safety-related exceptions which we discuss in detail during our first meeting to ensure your privacy is respected.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for any cancellations. This allows us to offer the space to someone else. If a session is cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, the full fee is typically charged to cover venue and administrative costs.
How much does counselling cost?
Standard session fees are based on several factors and can vary depending on individual needs. A clear list of typical pricing and fee structures is available on our main Counselling page, ensuring transparency as we begin our work together.
Coaching FAQs
What approach do you take to coaching?
We use an integrative, goal-oriented approach that combines practical strategy with mindful self-reflection to help you move forward effectively.
How many sessions should I commit to?
Most clients find that a series of 6 to 8 sessions provides the right momentum to achieve specific personal or professional milestones. However, we may decide together that a longer/shorter term may be more suitable.
Is the coaching process strictly confidential?
Yes, all sessions are held in strict confidence, providing a safe and private space for you to explore your ideas and challenges openly.
Can I switch from coaching to counselling?
Absolutely. In some circumstances we can pivot between coaching and therapy if we feel that a different approach better suits your current needs.
Meditation and Yoga FAQs
Do I need to bring my own mat?
We provide all necessary equipment including mats, bolsters, and blocks, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
How do I book a yoga session?
You can book directly via email to join a specific yoga or meditation session.
Are classes suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Our sessions are designed to be inclusive, with modifications offered for all levels of experience.
Is there a minimum age limit?
Our standard classes are for adults aged 18 upwards.
What should I wear for sessions?
Comfortable, stretchy clothing that allows free movement is best. We usually practice in bare feet or socks.
